How to Reduce College Application Stress

Applying to universities is a holistic and a very demanding process, but you can help overcome the stress by following these steps:

  • Start as early as possible and get organized with a checklist.
  • Search your colleges and make an excel sheet with all university details like localization, tuition and fees, acceptance rate etc..
  • Brainstorm and write your Personal statement and think about your supplement essays and the 200 words that universities asks for in addition to your PS, For example: “Which aspects of the undergraduate experience prompt your application?
  • Check colleges’ requirements for Standardized test (SAT, TOEFL, IELTS…).
  • Secure letter of recommendations from at least two of your teachers, advisor, counselor, or school director
  • Don’t apply to too many colleges. A number of 10 are enough. Two as a safe choice, five as your target and focus, and three within your reach. Seven to ten universities at most. It is important to have strategic planning across each category and discuss with your advisor.
  • Reuse letters of recommendation and Personal statement for all your application to save your time and energy but make sure that you are applying to the same Major.
  • Stay positive at all times.
  • Search and ask questions.

Tips above will secure a smooth route to college application season with a little stress.
